The pan-European Stoxx 600 was up around 0.3 percent shortly after the opening bell, with most sectors and major bourses in positive territory.
Europe’s basic resources stocks were the top performers, up more than 1.2 percent amid news of an improving global trade outlook. Kaz Minerals, Evraz and Anglo American were all over 2.5 percent higher during early morning deals.
Looking at individual stocks, Danish brewer Royal Unibrew surged to the top of the European benchmark after the company reported stronger-than-anticipated second-quarter figures. The Copenhagen-listed stock also upwardly revised its guidance for the third time this year. Its shares climbed almost 6 percent.
Meanwhile, Sydbank tumbled to the bottom of the index after it missed analyst expectations for the first half of the year. Its shares were over 5 percent lower on the news.
