Keira Knightley stars in, yes, another period drama, but this time she’s tackling the incredible true story of Colette. Set in the early 20th century, we follow a young French woman who married a celebrated author who goes by the name Willy. She’s soon roped into writing for him. When her novels start selling, he refuses to allow Colette to take credit for her own work. Beneath conversations about the practice of silencing women, the film also tackles gender fluidity, sexuality and a different approach to female empowerment.
