Several suspects have been arrested in connection with the kidnapping and killing of a Santa Cruz tech executive last year, officials said.
The arrests were made on Tuesday in the killing of 50-year-old Tushar Atre, according to a statement from the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office. Officials did not identify the suspects or say where they were arrested.
The Sheriff’s Office will hold a press conference to release more details on Thursday morning.
Atre was kidnapped from his home in Pleasure Point around 3 a.m. Oct. 1, according to the Sheriff’s Office. His body was found hours later at another property he owned on Soquel San Jose Road.
In January, investigators released security footage from the night of the kidnapping showing a person riding a bicycle down Atre’s street and pausing in front of his home roughly three hours before he was taken. Officials identified the bicyclist as a person of interest.
A video previously released by investigators shows three individuals — one with a bag and another with a rifle — walking up to the house shortly before the kidnapping.
Atre is the founder of AtreNet, a web design company that specializes in creating websites for corporate companies, according to his LinkedIn and social media profiles.
