Where? Museum of Science, One Science Park, Boston

Why should I go? Friday and Saturday the Museum of Science will offer special lectures, demonstrations, and planetarium shows in celebration of the 50th anniversary of one small step and a giant leap—the first landing of man on the moon. Both days will feature talks from actual Apollo engineers, such as Don Eyles (CAS’66), as well as showings of The Sky Tonight: Lunar Landings in the Hayden Planetarium, a special twist on the museum’s regular star show, with a focus on our moon and its history. Other lunar-related events happening at the museum this weekend include a lecture from former NASA deputy administrator Dava Newman, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor of aeronautics and astronautics, on the future of spacesuits, and a live viewing of a launch to the International Space Station in the museum’s planetarium.
